I had an 8-month adventure with Gateway Automotive, which spanned two vehicles and extensive repairs. It started with a 2018 GMC Sierra with a worn transmission (product of too much hauling) and ended with my 2008 BMW 335i due to head gasket oil leaks frying my crankshaft position sensor. Gateway provides excellence. The shop can be described as one of the few remaining small-town shops where the mechanics and service personnel genuinely care about a quality job, not just cash-grabbing. Understandably, the wait times for a repair can extend longer. This phenomenon is for two reasons: Gateway’s services are sought after for their quality work, and Gateway provides quality work that takes longer to achieve. The shop double-checked multiple repairs, warrantied faulty parts, and provided consistent updates. One of the mechanics went so far as to scavenge for dozens of spare bolts and screws to replace odd pieces that had been lost over the years in my BMW. This same mechanic even plastic-welded broken latches on my engine cover. Miracle, the office manager, is awesome. She finds you deals, gets your parts there expediently, and expertly deals with questions. As someone who has had multiple mechanical issues on his BMW over the years, this is the best shop I've ever found.

This was my first visit for an oil change. It was a great experience from the time I arrived until the time I left. They did a complimentary inspection, just like the dealer does and not only gave me a list of things that should be looked at but photos as well. It's was really nice to be able to see exactly what they were talking about and helped me make decisions in regard to which needed addressed immediately and which ones I could wait on. In the end, I highly recommend Gateway Automotive and Transmission...they are a great shop and very thorough.

DO NOT GO HERE I’D GIVE THIS SHOP ZERO STARS IF I COULD. My husband brought his Mercedes AMG in 2 months ago after it died on the road. The car displayed symptoms of a possible alternator issue and told miracle this. Miracle agreed with him and told the techs this. After supposedly testing the alternator they concluded that it was not the alternator or battery and must be a wiring problem. They asked to rip the dash off to probe the wiring. They ended up not doing that. The car sat in the lot in the same spot it was dropped off at for the whole time it was there. In total three techs were assigned to the car and none of them knew anything. A month and a half later they completely ditched the idea of faulty wiring and somehow jumped to the idea of low compression when that does not explain any of the symptoms. Adequate diagnosing was not complete. They wanted another 200 dollars for a second round of diagnostics. In addition, Miracle always had some excuse as to why the car wasn’t done; “oh my tech broke his elbow” “ oh my tech threw his back out” “all the techs have the flu”. Miracle never gives a straight answer and instead gives you the run around. She did a really good job at making you feel bad for them. We understand that AMGs are hard to work on so the day after we dropped the car off we asked if they were comfortable working on it and they said yes. But these techs seem incompetent. My husband ended up paying around 200-300 dollars for non-existent diagnostics and still was left at square one. We ended up towing the car to a different shop. This shop does not know what they’re doing. Please go anywhere else than here. You’d probably have more luck working on your own car than letting these guys do it for you. This place also needs more front desk people. When my husband would call some random man would answer and tell him Miracle would call back. She never did because this dude never told her to call. If you’re gonna answer phones and say you’re gonna call back just do it. This whole experience has been extremely stressful, exhausting and an overall nightmare. In the end, it really was an alternator problem.

Gateway is fantastic. It’s the only place I’d go in Oak Harbor. Rates are very fair and the job gets done right. Miracle working the front desk is absolutely amazing and knowledgeable. Couldn’t ask for more. Thank you!
